Frequently Asked Questions
What is your Covid precaution procedure?
Prior to an in-person appointment, you will be asked to complete a pre-screening form. If the screening is positive, the appointment will be done virtually. If the screening is negative, you will be allowed an in-person appointment.
Once at the clinic, you will again be asked a series of screening questions, for the safety of our staff and patients within the clinic. Likewise, if the screening is positive, you will be turned away and the appointment will be performed virtually. If negative, you will be allowed into the clinic premises.
Once inside the clinic, it is obligatory to remain seated, at a distance of 1-2 meters away from others and wear your mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you prior to entry.
The receptionist will guide you to your room where you will be seen by your healthcare professional. After your appointment, please sanitize your hands and exit the clinic immediately.
I do not have my medical insurance card (RAMQ card) with me, can I still seen by the doctor?
Yes, patients who have previously come to the clinic and have their RAMQ medical card information in our database do not need to show their medical card prior to the appointment, so long as the medical card is NOT expired.
If you are a new patient without their RAMQ medical care, have an expired medical card on file and/or do not have a medical insurance card, then you may be charged a fee for the visit.
This fee will differ depending on the complexity of the case, as per the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) guidelines.
Where can I park?
Although we do not offer complementary parking at this time, there are three solutions for parking:
-
Paid Street Parking: There are many paid parking spots on Ch. de la Côte-Des-Neiges and Ellendale Ave.
-
Residential Parking: There are various residential parking spots on De La Peltrie street, Ellendale Ave, Linton Ave and many other side streets.
-
Hospital Parking: If you will be going next door to the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) to have blood tests or other studies done, they offer a 2 hour complementary parking for patients going to their hospital
Are there any fees?
No, there are no fees to see a doctor if you have RAMQ coverage.
If, however, you do not have RAMQ coverage, do not have your RAMQ card on your first visit or your RAMQ card is expired, then you will be charged a fee for the visit.
There will also be a fee for health certificates, medical reports, SAAQ reports and missed appointments to mention a few.
These fees will differ depending on the complexity of the case, as per the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) guidelines.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring all necessary documents for the doctor to look through. These can be your old files, or new documents/results from a recent visit with a specialist or Emergency Department visit.
Please bring a list of your medications. If you do not have a list, please bring your medication bottles with the label on.
Bringing pills in an unmarked bottle is dangerous as we cannot identify them.
How long are the appointments?
Usually, each appointment can last between 15-20 minutes.
However, depending on the simplicity or complexity of the case, the appointment can be anywhere between 10 - 30 minutes.
Please discuss with the receptionist as to the reason of the visit so that adequate time is given for your concerns.
I am new to Canada. Can I still be seen?
Yes. Whether you are a recent immigrant or here on student or travel visa, you most certainly can be seen.
Please note that there will be a charge if you do not have your RAMQ medical card.
A receipt can be provided for your insurance claim.
I have a virtual appointment with my doctor. What do I do?
Following a virtual appointment booking, a confirmation email will be sent to your email. Please ensure you have given the receptionist the correct email information.
A link for the virtual appointment will be sent to your email a few minutes prior to the appointment time slot.
If you do not have access to a computer or are not comfortable using a computer, do not worry. We will have a telephone consultation.
Following the appointment, documents may be sent directly to:
-
Your pharmacist (for your prescription)
-
Your Medesync patient portal or your email (for your consults, results, notes or requisitions)
